Info Salons delivered smart-gate event access control with tiered badge permissions and session-level entry for the 2026 DIA China Annual Meeting. Across four days at Shanghai Zhangjiang Science Hall, thousands of drug development professionals, regulators and exhibitors moved between conference sessions, training and the exhibition floor — each carrying a different set of entry rights.

About the DIA China Annual Meeting

The DIA China Annual Meeting is the premier drug development and life sciences event in the region, convening global R&D professionals, regulatory agencies, CROs and biotech and pharmaceutical companies. The 2026 edition ran 13–16 May at Shanghai Zhangjiang Science Hall in Pudong, drawing participants from more than 30 countries and regions.

The 2026 programme expanded with a new Biotech Day and pre-conference training on 13 May, ahead of the main conference and exhibition. That structure — a training and Biotech Day preceding the core exhibiting days — is precisely what makes admission control at a conference different from a trade show.

The Challenge — Conference Access Is Not Trade Show Access

A trade show admits most visitors to most of the floor. A regulatory and drug development conference does not. Delegates hold different registration types — full conference, single-day, training-only, exhibitor, speaker, press — and each grants access to a different combination of sessions, halls and events.

That creates two distinct problems. First, permissions are granular: a training-only pass on 13 May should not open a paid conference session on 15 May. Second, traffic is peaked and repeated: unlike a trade show's single morning surge, a conference generates a new peak at the start of every session block, as hundreds of delegates move simultaneously between rooms.
